Recovering Wood Waste to Produce Briquettes Enriched with Commercial Kraft Lignin

Aiming to use lignocellulosic biomass as energy source, one of the process that may aggregate values is densification process, which allows production bioenergy using solid fuels, mainly for reducing transportation costs. In this research, fuel from co-briquetting wood residues sawmill commercial kraft lignin binder was investigated. The effects compression pressure (900, 1200 and 1500 PSI) briquette formulation (varying proportion) on quality characteristics briquettes were evaluated. main findings briquetting with resulted in an improvement bulk density, strength rupture modulus, low heating value (LHV) high (HHV). 4% 6% lignin, submitted PSI, presented higher density resistance, respectively. On other hand, showed highest results addition 2% at 900 being legal range additives many countries such European Union.
